New Aquinas Staff Appointments

Aquinas College —

Principal Matt Dalton would like to announce the following changes to the Aquinas staff team.

  1. I am pleased to announce that Trudie Ririnui has been offered the Te Reo Māori kaiako position. Whaea Trudie was relieving in the College last term, so it is wonderful to have her experience and knowledge retained in our college. Whaea Trudie comes to us most recently from Te Puna School where she was a Lead Teacher in Te Puna Matauranga. Her teaching experience covers a wide range of year levels, in New Zealand and Australia. Whaea Trudie also has substantial management experience to Deputy Principal (secondary) and Principal (primary) levels.  We look forward to working alongside Whaea Trudie in this role to support our students.

  1. A former Aquinian, Brady Jones, has accepted the position of Sports Coordinator (fixed-term) for the remainder of the 2022 academic year. Brady attended Aquinas College from 2015 – 2021. We’re delighted to have Brady join us in this position and look forward to being part of his journey.

  1. Bruce Buckton has kindly agreed to return to the College to continue teaching the ASA classes. Bruce knows the students and the programme well which will provide effective continuity.

  1. Aisha Bellamy has increased her hours (Arts Coordinator) at Aquinas to take on the extra duties of Homestay Coordinator. Aisha’s warm personality and creative lens on life will be a wonderful addition to the International Department.

  1. Kallum Wallace recently tendered his resignation effective from 23 September 2022. Kallum has been at the College teaching Physical Education and Junior Maths for three months during which time he quickly established a wonderful rapport with his students. Kallum’s warmth and collegiality will be missed. Kallum has decided to return to Australia.

  1. Penny Harrison has been appointed to the Physical Education and Junior Maths position vacated by Kallum Wallace, effective from 7 September 2022. Penny is a former teacher at Roncalli College and is an NZQA Moderator. Penny hails from Dunedin, only recently moving north to the Bay of Plenty. She is considered a teacher of many strengths and has experience in middle management. We welcome Penny to our staff and community.

  2. Glen Evans has recently accepted the Property & Grounds Maintenance position following the recent resignation of Kevin Spurr. Glen has considerable experience with machine maintenance and labouring both in New Zealand and Australia. He brings experience and knowledge in property and grounds which will be of benefit to this position. Kevin Spurr has secured a job much closer to his home, using his certified electrical trade skills and knowledge. We wish Kevin well and thank him for his work in keeping our property and grounds well maintained to a high standard.
