Aquinas College —

A number of Aquinas students had noteworthy successes during the summer holiday. Our congratulations to the following students…

Tash Wakelin (Yr 13)

Aquinas’ standout female cricket player Tash Wakelin travelled to South Africa to represent NZ at the TCC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup and was recently called up to play a 50-over game for Northern Districts Women against Wellington last month. Amazing stuff Tash!

Kaitlyn Black (Year 11)

Aquinas sprinter Kaitlyn Black won the U16 girls 100m at the Waikato BOP Champs last month and second in the 200m. Showing her potential, she also made the final of the NZ Secondary School Track, Field and Road Race Championships late last year, finishing seventh.

Bella Devereaux, Luke Ryder and Aidan Couch (all Year 10)

Congratulations to our Aquinas volleyball players who were selected for BOP representative teams late last year. Bella made the Yr 10 A girls BOP team which played in Auckland, and Luke and Aidan won spots on the Year 9 boys side.

Timothy Churchill - Year 13

Won the gold prize in the architectural and product category of the Q Awards for Tauranga and Western Bay students aged 16 to 18. The awards seek to inspire the next generation of designers and creatives.

Timothy, who takes Design and Visual Communications at Aquinas, won $1,500 in prize money for career-supporting technology or university/scholarship fees. He won gold for his catamaran concept - product design. 

Danielle Gleeson - Year 13

Won a bronze award in the photography section of the Q Awards for her photo series “The Divine Feminine.”
