Twenty-Year Milestone for Two Aquinas Legends

Aquinas College —

Aquinas recently celebrated two of its most dedicated and committed staff members for achieving an exceptional 20 years of service to our college and to Catholic education.

Mrs Trudy O’Connor and Mrs Moira Ramsbottom each accumulated a remarkable 20 years at Aquinas, a feat recognised by past and present staff and welcomed guests at a special event last month in their honour.

Still a member of staff, Mrs O’Connor and her husband, David, were instrumental in the 1999 campaign for the Hamilton Diocese to buy the current Aquinas site and build a Catholic college. In the many years since she has remained dedicated to Aquinas, and her unparalleled kindness, humility and generosity of spirit have had a significant impact on our community.

Well-known to many, Mrs Ramsbottom served as the Principal’s Assistant since the school’s 2003 inception until her retirement earlier this year. Throughout that time she has demonstrated a fierce love for Aquinas and its people. Her dedication and commitment to the growth and success of our college has been a source of inspiration and motivation for all.

“Both Trudy and Moira have exemplified the very best of what it means to be a member of our college community,” Mr Dalton told guests. “With their unwavering commitment to Catholic education, their tireless efforts to support and inspire our students, and their unshakable faith in the power of education to transform lives, they have earned the admiration, respect, and gratitude of everyone who has had the privilege of working with them.”

An honour board recording their long service, and serving as an inspiration for others, was unveiled in tribute to their dedication.
