AC Dancers Underscore Talents with Holiday Success

During the Term 2 holidays, Aquinas dancers had some outstanding achievements. Congratulations to the following:

Lucy Clemens (Year 8)

Lucy could be heading to Australia in January following her dance troupe’s golden performance at the South Island Regional Evolution Dance Competition. She and her Diamond Studio teammates won the jazz and musical sections, qualifying them for the Evolution finals on the Gold Coast. The team is still deciding whether to make the trip. Lucy’s musical troupe also placed second at Christchurch's NZ Dance Award (NZDA) finals.

Paige Eastergaard (Year 11)

Paige also competed at the NZDA finals during the holidays. Her dance troupe from The Academy won gold in the jazz and contemporary sections. It also scooped third place at the NZ Tap Nationals in Palmerston North.

Hannah Anderson (Year 9)

Named Most Promising Ballet Dancer over 12 years

She was also awarded second place and four 3rd finishes in various ballet categories (13-15 years).  At the 2024 Hamilton Competitions, Hannah claimed first, two seconds and third place.

Cassidy Bishop (Year 7) and Maya Perrett (Year 8)

Their Dance Education Centre troupe was crowned the Most Entertaining performance and placed third in another dance category.

Lila Drummond (Year 10)

1st - Jazz Duo category (14 years and over)

Alana Perrett (Year 11)

1st - Musical Theatre

Named Most Entertaining Performer - Modern Troupe Class

2nd - Ballet

Maya Perrett (Year 8)

Highest overall marks in Speech and Drama (age 12-14 years)

1st - Most Dramatic Characterisation (12-14)

4th - Classical Ballet (12-14) 

Highly Commended - Classical Ballet (12-14)

Greer Wakelin (Year 12) 

Awarded the highest marks for a local jazz competitor 16 years and over

Ava Weber (Year 9)

1st - Restricted Lyrical Dance (10-13 years)

1st - Contemporary Dance (13 years)

2nd - Jazz (13 years)

Very Highly Commended - Lyrical Dance

4th - Lyrical Duo with fellow Aquinian Krysta Stollery

Zoe Sherlock (Year 13)

Named Best Singer (16-17 years)

Awarded five firsts and a second in various singing categories.
