Aquinas has a gold-medal winning touch player in its midst — and it’s not a student.

Mr Shane Turner, our Social Science Leader of Learning, brought home gold from the NZ National Touch Championships in Palmerston North last month. Mr Turner and the BOP team won the Men’s Over 50 grade, an impressive accomplishment.

Mr Turner’s skills on the Touch field should come as no surprise. As those in Touch circles know, he and his wife, Jenny, started Touch Papamoa 15 years ago and have been the driving force behind it ever since. Mr Turner has also been the backbone of the Aquinas Touch code.
