Local Innovator UBCO Gives Students Insight on Design Thinking Process

Aquinas College —

Students in 9 GATE have received a first-hand account of UBCO’s evolution from a local start-up to a global exporter of electric farm bikes.

The innovative business recently hosted the students at its Mount Maunganui base. The UBCO team provided a hands-on learning experience for the students to see how the design thinking process plays out in the world of work.

As our GATE students are currently engaged in the Young Innovator Awards, this was an excellent opportunity for students to see where this kind of project-based learning can lead in the future.

Aquinas College is hugely appreciative of the time and effort invested in our students by Grant Payton and colleagues at UBCO, as well as Priority One Instep Manager Vee de Koster, who helped to set up the visit.
