Congratulations to Aquinas basketballers Pateriki Paaka and Luka Mahy who will play at NZ’s U15 Basketball Nationals in Auckland next month.

The Y10 students play for the U15A Tauranga Rep team which finished third at the National qualifying tournament on June 5 – earning them a spot at the July 20 U15 championships.

The boys have been training and playing tournaments throughout the year to build up for the National event. Their U15 Rep team finished second at the Mel Young Easter Classic, basketball’s premier regional tournament.

Basketball clearly runs in the family. Pateriki’s sister, Loimata, also won gold at the Easter tournament with her TCBA U13A Girls team.
