Leadership Lessons for Aquinas' New Year 13 Leaders

Aquinas College —

Nine Year 12 students have garnered new leadership skills to set them up for their Student Executive Committee responsibilities next year.

The group recently attended Rangatira 2022 — the New Zealand Student Leadership Conference, immersing themselves in the Rangatira environment and challenging themselves to step outside their comfort zone and delve deep into leadership. The students left with newfound friends, confidence, skills, and a willingness to make your Aquinas a better place!

Students Ben Parlane and Rupert Carter share their conference highlights and which initiatives they are looking forward to implementing in their final Aquinas year.

Ben Parlane:

What is your conference highlight?

My conference highlight was the second night. It was really cool to see so many people open up, including myself, and I am going to bring that back with me to school.

What are you looking forward to implementing at your school this year?

I would like to make a change at Aquinas College and be someone who inspires others.

Rupert Carter:

What is your conference highlight?

My conference highlights included listening to Jack’s talk, dancing at Funky town and having fun at formal.

What are you looking forward to implementing at your school this year?

I look forward to encouraging others to not be afraid of judgement and to stand for what they believe in.
