Surf life saving phenom India Scholes (Yr 10) has done it again, bagging another six-medal haul at a national championship. She won three gold, a silver and two bronze at the 2024 NZ Surf Life Saving Championships at Mt Maunganui this month.

Indie was first in the women’s U15 run swim run and the diamond, claimed silver in the women’s U15 surf race, and bronze in both the U17 women’s board rescue and U15 board rescue. The 14-year-old was then named the U15 top female athlete for the event, which featured 1500 athletes and is NZ’s largest life saving competition.

Added to this, Indie won gold in the U17 women’s surf team which included Year 12’s Grace Rikit. Grace also clinched gold in the U17 female tube rescue team event. Both compete for Mt Maunganui.

Indie recently won six medals at the 2024 Oceans junior championships for competitors under 14.

Congratulations also to Year 12’s Taylor Svendsen who won silver in the men’s U19 canoe race. Well done all, incredible results to achieve at a national level!

Aquinas lifesavers won an outstanding 21 medals at Oceans 2024, including Year 8’s Max Page who scored five medals (two golds, three silvers).
