Ashburton 14 November and Timaru 22 November - it's not too late to enrol!

The next class starting is Te Hoe 1. Te Hoe is a free* 10- hour introductory Reo Māori course, for people with no knowledge of Te Reo Māori me ōnā Tikanga. Over the ten hours you will acquire basic skills in pronunciation and introductory phrases. You will learn to pronounce Te Reo Māori with some confidence, participate in karakia, himene and waiata, understand basic Tikanga Māori and learn basic greetings, farewells, and numbers.

Timaru - Te Aitarakihi Marae-a-iwi

Start Date: Wednesday 22 November

Duration:    Three weeks

Time:          9.00am – 12.30pm

Venue:       Te Aitarakihi Marae-a-Iwi, 50 Bridge Rd, Timaru

For open entry, applicants must be 16 years or older and not currently enrolled at a secondary school. Please contact us if you are unsure and we can advise alternative details and options.

**Notes about completing the enrolment form:

• Please note that the enrolment form attached can be typed into and emailed back to us. Ara can verify the ID so no JP is required, ID must be a birth certificate or passport. You can submit the enrolment form without ID initially and we would follow up with ways to provide ID later if needed. You do not need to print and sign you may sign electronically or by just typing in your name, we will sort verification later.

• The enrolment form has both class times listed under section two “programme of study”. Please complete this form and select your preferred timeslot. For example, if you wish to undertake the Te Hoe 1 – Intro class starting Wednesday mornings, then just select this preferred timeslot in the form.

• If you would prefer a paper copy of the forms to complete, we can arrange to have one dropped off at your address or we and Te Aitarakihi have them at our sites.

• We appreciate that for some people the details of the enrolment form may seem like a lot, however due to how we are funded and to keep this a free course we do need to gather full enrolment details. We can help you complete the form over the phone or in person during the first class. You can also pop into the Ara campus in Timaru at 32 Arthur St and receive assistance any time between 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
