Making waves
Toi Oho plans to make a habit of celebrating Ōtepoti practitioners who have been honoured for their work at a national level – here’s a couple of to be truly proud of, just for starters…
- Shayne Carter was awarded the General Non-Fiction Award and the E.H McCormick Prize for General Non-Fiction at the 2020 Ockham New Zealand Book Awards for Dead People I Have Known, published by Victoria University Press.
- Ayesha Green was awarded a 2020 Springboard Award by the Arts Foundation. Ayesha will be mentored by Suzanne Ellison and, as you may have read in this issue of Toi Oho, Ayesha has been selected to create a new public artwork for the Octagon.
It is great to see Shayne and Ayesha acknowledged for their work.
Please let us know if there are other locals that we can celebrate here in future Toi Oho editions.
