Briefing event - film business delegation to Shanghai

You’re invited to join Enterprise Dunedin at 2pm, Thursday 16 August to learn about a film business delegation to China in late October. The session will explain the opportunity and how local screen businesses can express their interest in the delegation. The business delegation will coincide with a showcase of New Zealand films being presented in Shanghai which is being delivered in partnership with the NZ Film Commission and the NZ Consulate in Shanghai. The film festival is intended to showcase the locations, skills, talent and stories from across the region. Enterprise Dunedin is seeking to use the festival as an opportunity to develop business relationships and opportunities with Shanghai, particularly through agreements with the Shanghai Art Film Federation and Shanghai Media Group.

Please contact Film Dunedin Coordinator Antony Deaker, ph 03 474 3585 to RSVP or if you have any questions.

Southern Screenwriter’s residency in Shanghai

Local screenwriters are being sought for a two-month residency in Shanghai (planned for October/November 2018) as part of a new joint initiative of the Dunedin City Council (DCC), New Zealand Film Commission (NZFC) and the New Zealand Writers Guild (NZWG). The Dunedin Shanghai Screenwriters Exchange is intended to provide experienced screenwriters the opportunity to develop work and build new professional relationships. The hope is the work developed in the exchange will lead to new content for film and television projects produced in New Zealand, China or both.

Applicants from Dunedin or with strong connections to Dunedin will be favoured as the project is funded by NZFC, Shanghai Art Film Federation (SAFF) and the DCC, and arose from an agreement signed between Enterprise Dunedin (ED) and SAFF in 2017 to build on the 24 year Sister City relationship between Dunedin and Shanghai. The successful applicant will be provided flights, accommodation (serviced apartment), per diem and hosting support for the duration of their time in Shanghai.

For more information and application criteria contact Film Dunedin Coordinator Antony Deaker, ph 03 474 3585. The application deadline is 17 August.
