Responding to the fire alarm

The fire alarm went off at Whanganui City College....... and it wasn't a planned practice fire drill  😬

Everyone evacuated the classrooms and assembled out on the field. The whole school showed they were prepared and responded really well to the school fire drill procedures. 

Teachers called the roll to make sure everyone was accounted for and to make extra sure that no one had been left in the school buildings. 

The fire engines arrived and the fire fighters checked out what had trigged the fire alarm.

 

While we waited for the all clear we sat in the sun with the whole school. Once the fire fighters told us it was safe we were allowed back into our classrooms. 

Although there wasn't an actual fire this time, it was great to be able to show we are prepared and know what to do to keep safe.
