Greetings to you all as we prepare to celebrate the joy and poignancy of Palm Sunday and the mysteries of Holy Week and the death and resurrection of our Lord.
Developing a prayerful culture of growth is such an important aspect of parish life - really believing that good things will happen when we pray. That's the vision behind the Diocesan Prayer Community. Belonging involves the daily practice of praying for the regeneration of our parishes and Diocese. Click here to find out more.
We all need festival style events from time to time to build faith, grow confidence and inspire hope. The Diocesan Conference on Sat. 26 Oct. will be like that. The day will include inspiring worship, great fellowship and amazing speakers. Mark the date now and organise a parish team to come. More information to come.
I had an hour's discussion with Bishop of Wellington Justin Duckworth this week to hear about the bright spots of mission there. They have a plan to revitalise parishes by sending small teams of about 6 people in to struggling parishes, who pray and work towards regeneration. So far this has happened successfully in ten of their parishes. God is at work!
The first LyCiG Refresh was a great success - a one hour Zoom session with Rhiannon and Harry to remind us of the LyCiG principles, share successes and brainstorm sticking points. Click here for three more coming up this year.
I'm preaching in the parish of Burnside-Harewood on Sunday and very much look forward to being with parishioners. Continue to pray for this parish as, along with others, they discern who might be their next Vicar. Click here for some sermon starters.
Rev Mike and Patsy Hawke are leading a pilgrimage to Egypt and Greece in September. I have been on one of Mike's pilgrimages before and it was tremendous! I commend this to you as a way of building your Christian experience and your faith. Contact Mike on mikehawkesnest@gmail.com for more information.
Grace and peace to you all,
Mark
