Dio Mission Action Plan reaches northern most parish!

The Vicar and Vestry of our northern most parish - St John's Cheviot - were inspired by the DMAP last week.

As it turns out Cheviot is a lot closer to Christchurch than Waimate is to Christchurch! I was up there in about an hour and a half last week for their Vestry meeting. A smallish but committed group who were eager to hear about the Diocesan Mission Action Plan.

They're a parish who are doing some great things in the community including Food Parcels, Firewood, Financial Assistance, a support group for young mums and both Bible study and prayer groups. However they want to get clearer about how to grow and how to develop a more missional mindset.

Vicar John Hearne reported later that "the Vestry appreciated your presentation and found it very helpful...Your trip was well worth it. We need to get clearer about our missional priorities."

I'm working with Vivien Harber about a trip to our western most parish in the next few months.
