Getting clear about mission at St John's Rangiora
I was a joy to visit the Rangiora Vestry as they reported on their response to their recent Mission Action Review
Visit this articleGreetings on this Leap Day in Jesus name! Welcome to those receiving this digital newsletter for the first time. Don't forget to click on 'View the full publication' to have an enhanced display. The purpose of 'Stirring' is to stimulate missional conversations, showcase the bright spots of mission in the Diocese and disseminate ideas and best missional practice in our changing culture.
An exciting weekend of prayer for personal renewal and the regeneration of our Diocese is just around the corner - tomorrow in fact! It's tremendously encouraging to hear of so many people getting behind this initiative. Click here for more info and to register.
During the week I made a guest appearance in Aussie at the Melbourne Diocesan LyCiG conference - on Zoom! It was a privilege to answer questions about our experience of 'Leading your Church into Growth.' They were especially interested in our use of LyCiG Local and LyCiG Refresh as ways of keeping the seven steps of LyCiG front of mind. It's great that other dioceses are using the LyCiG approach.
I have managed to secure three more LiCyG Refresh Zoom sessions with Rhiannon and Harry. They are so generous with their time! Click here for more info and put the following dates in your diaries - Tuesday 7 May, Tuesday 2 July and Wednesday 4 September. All the meetings are at 7pm.
It was such a blessing to meet with the Cashmere Parish Growth Team during the week. Each member of the team takes responsibly for one of their four missional priorities - Culture of Prayer, Growing the 11am service, Elder Ministry and Communications. I was able to offer them encouragement and examples of missional practice from around the Diocese. Contact me if you'd like me to visit your Growth Implementation Team.
A number of clergy have asked me for help with Stewardship and so I have written a resource for this. It's being 'road tested' and I will make it available in due course. In periods of high inflation, encouraging parishioners to re-evaluate their financial giving is vitally important.
May God bless you this Lent,
Mark
