Seriously Good Opportunity to Study Mission Possible!

Those who undertake theological study invariably say that it's positively life changing and enables the development of a Christian worldview. In today's culture it's essential that we offer discipleship opportunities that will enable participants to think 'Christianly' so that our thoughts, words and deeds all confirm to the mind and will of Christ. We all need to take our walk with Christ to the next level! It's part of regeneration and mission .

What's on offer?

Next year the Diocese will offer the NZ Diploma in Christian Studies locally in Christchurch in association with Theology House and St John’s College. Students will be able to complete this NZQA-recognised qualification part time over three years. So why not form a parish cluster and embark on a new learning journey - and it's free!

What will you learn?

The first paper for 2024 is 'Formed for Mission'. In the course you will explore the meaning of the mission of God for our churches today. Learn about forming disciples for mission and Anglican approaches to mission and missional theology.

The full diploma programme includes introductions to Old and New Testament studies, theology and Church history. The course load is designed to be taken on top of full-time work with one paper offered at a time. A group from your church will learn together, support one another, and have a great time!

Will I learn with others?

The ideal scenario is establishing a parish cluster of at least 3 - 6 people all wanting to study with their Vicar's support. This is the formula for fun and enjoyment! However, if you are the only one in your parish, contact Gareth below and you may be able to join another parish cluster.

What should clergy do?

Vicars and Priests-in-Charge are invited to promote this opportunity to parishioners through newsletters and email, and shoulder-tap anyone you think would benefit. This is a great opportunity to help train leaders and get more people involved in the mission of your parish.
