Use the new Prayer for Regeneration

Archdeacon Nick Mountfort has composed a prayer for the regeneration of our Diocese that we can all use!

[Bidding] As the kotuku gently rests upon the tree, come Holy Spirit and rest upon us as we pray for the regeneration of our Diocese.

Silence

Everliving God,

through your Spirit you constantly renew the whole creation;

bring regeneration to your Diocese of Christchurch,

grant us courage to grow disciples of Jesus,

give us vision to reach young people and their families,

and strengthen us to create vibrant communities of faith.

All this we ask in Jesus' name.

Amen

The three petitions within the prayer are structured around our Bishop's three priorities that we believe will lead to the regeneration of our Diocese - making disciples, supporting families and strengthening communities. Note also the trinitarian structure - Father, Spirit and Son are mentioned.

Finally, Nick has prefaced the prayer with a bidding which has a unique Aotearoa feel. The kotuku symbolises the Holy Spirit and the connection between heaven and earth. Feel free to use this prayer in your worship services, prayer meetings, private devotions or at any other time.

I have some 'Prayer for Regeneration' postcards - let me know if you want some copies.
