Prayer changes things (for the better!). Bishop Peter asks us to join the Diocesan Prayer Community. by Mark Chamberlain

Prayer Community - join others in prayer for the regeneration of our Diocese.

Prayer changes things (for the better!) - Bishop Peter asks us to join the Diocesan Prayer Community.

Isn't it true that we need to pray more than we realise? So let's undergird our work for the regeneration of our Diocese by joining together in prayer. And the great thing about belonging to a Prayer Community is that we enter into a commitment that will enable us to pray more - especially since we know that lots of others are praying with us!

When will the Prayer Community Begin?

The Diocesan Prayer Community will be launched on Sunday 26 May in two places.

  • 10am in the Cardboard Cathedral
  • 2pm at St Mary’s Timaru.

You're invited to be present at either of these services and to be commissioned by Bishop Peter. You don’t of course have to be present - you can join the Prayer Community at any time. Click here to join.

What does belonging to the Prayer Community involve?

  1. Read and reflect on a passage of scripture.
  2. Pray the Lord’s Prayer
  3. Pray the Diocesan Prayer for Regeneration
  4. Pray for the regeneration of our Diocese, the growth of our parishes, chaplaincies and agencies and for other needs.

What if I can't pray on a particular day?

It’s OK if some days you don’t pray – it’s a best intention. We know that life can get busy but that shouldn't stop us from using our best effort to pray each day.

Is there any paperwork?

When you join the Diocesan Prayer Community you'll receive a ‘Commitment Card’ with the Diocesan Prayer for Regeneration printed on it and a place to sign. This will be a reminder of your commitment and your best intention to pray each day for the regeneration of our Diocese.

How we'll keep in touch

You will also receive a monthly email from me, the Archdeacon for Regeneration and Mission, which will include topics for you to pray for. Let's support Bishop Peter’s vision for the regeneration of our Diocese. It begins with our own personal prayer for renewal, includes prayer for the regeneration of our Diocese and overflows into our parishes and the wider community.
