Day 3 update

After a hearty breakfast we geared up ready for a day of walking! To begin with, we went exploring some of the local tracks before jumping on the shuttle buses over to Lee Bay to begin our tramp over to Maori Beach. Stunning views, beautiful bays, clear water and the sound of birds surrounded us. After our morning of hiking, we arrived at Maori beach just in time for lunch. Following this, we explored the rocky seashore. The hike back was hard work and took a lot of perseverance but we made it back to the shuttle buses in perfect time. At 5pm we visited the DOC centre where we learnt about the history of Stewart Island and neighbouring islands, the prevention of pests, sea farming, tourism and more! We then returned back to camp for dinner which was our blue cod that we freshly caught yesterday. What a hit that was!! An early night will be had by all.
