Term 3 - Pīwakawaka Worth
Welcome to the last newsletter for Term 3. Parents and caregivers can be proud of their children's learning efforts this term. I saw significant gains and was impressed with their spelling scores, which ranged from 17 to 23 out of 24. Tino pai!
Our focus on technology with soft materials has been a hit, with the students thoroughly enjoying making rustic hearts and deconstructed backgrounds. Even more impressive is that they completed the task with minimal assistance, demonstrating their growing independence in their learning. The photos of their work speak for themselves, showing that the outcome was produced to a high standard. Seeing the students encouraging each other was heartwarming, a testament to their growing confidence and camaraderie.
The students have been on an exciting journey of discovery, investigating Ancient Greek landmarks and uncovering how they were constructed, what materials were used, and the reasons behind these choices. Their enthusiasm was palpable as we experimented with columns and discovered how they distribute weight.
The Greek amphora also captured their imagination, especially when they learned how some were decorated to show their contents. Their artwork reflected their excitement, with each pattern telling a unique story. Their engagement and enthusiasm were truly inspiring. Great work, students!
As with any holiday, it would benefit your child to maintain their basic facts and daily reading. A reading contract will come home, and if you could get them to write the title of the chapter or book they read each day, they can select from the treasure box when they return to school.
Keep safe over the holidays.
