Wow! We are halfway through the final term of the year already! 🤩

Brad Meads —

A lot has been happening in Tūī Meads/Ussher, with everyone continuing to make the most of learning opportunities across the curriculum. 👏

Swimming lessons have been going well on Friday afternoons. Ākonga are embracing their sessions, working on their swimming technique and speed. Everyone has been remembering their swimming gear and self-managing sensibly at the pool - well done! Thank you to Miss Elvines and Karen (who has stepped in for Miss O) for the valuable lessons. 🏊️ 🥽

Last week, ākonga had the opportunity to participate in a cricket skills session provided by Otago Cricket up at Robin Hood Park. We had an awesome time and are very grateful to Izzy, a player from the Sparks, for the fantastic session. In early December we are sending three year five/six cricket teams to a festival day. More information soon! 🏏

This term our shared class novel is named Fish in a Tree. We are making our way through it as fast as we can, with many ākonga making the most of opportunities to read aloud to the whole group. It is a very engaging text - you can find out more about it here. 📚️

Finally, we have had the pleasure of having Ana Halalilo-Rouvi working with us in our learning space as part of her teacher training. Ana has formed such great relationships with many ākonga in the group over such a short time, and we are thankful for the fun, engaging lessons she has been preparing and delivering.

Now that all of the end-of-year assessments are over, we look forward to a fantastic final few weeks as we see out the 2024 school year.

Ngā mihi nui,

Brad Meads
