ASHCOLL CRICKET FIRST XI BOYS

This match was a Gillette Cup fixture which is a 50 over knockout interschool 1st XI competition played nationwide, split into regions and progresses from there. 

Ashburton College played Mt Hutt College on Tuesday the 15 February at the Ashburton Domain. Conditions have been challenging for all concerned with the high amount of rainfall over the district in the last few weeks, so it was pleasing to get this game underway. 

Special mention must be made to Colin Morgan for his groundskeeping. 😀

Ashburton College batted first and scored a very quick 230, however were all out in the 30th over.

Lachie Jemmett was the highlight with the bat scoring 109, scored off 62 balls and included 12 fours and 7 sixes. Devon Flannery scored 36 and Seb McMillan 23.

Mt Hutt then batted and were all out in the 39th over for 109.  The highlight with the ball was Millar Newlands who bagged 5 wickets for 8 runs off 4 overs and Seb McMillan 3 wickets for 7 runs off 6 overs.

Ashburton College now progress through to the next stage and will play the winners of South Canterbury in Ashburton on Friday 25 February.
