Win for AshColl 2nd XI Cricket Team on Waitangi Day

The Ashburton College 2nd XI celebrated Waitangi Day in style with a comprehensive 131-run victory over Christchurch Boys' High School 5th XI at the Domain.

After being sent in to bat, AshColl posted an imposing total of 245/6 from their 40 overs. The innings was anchored by a superb, unbeaten 88 from Eduan Fouché. He was well-supported by Jake Douglas (34) and Izaac Bruce (28), setting a steep target for the visitors.

Well done to the bowlers, dismissing CBHS for just 114 in the 24th over. Mac Prendergast tearing through the lineup to claim 5/14 off 6.2 overs. Blake Cook provided excellent support at the other end, finishing with 3/28.

Meanwhile, the Ashburton College 1st XI faced a tougher road trip to Burnside Park. Despite a solid 45 from Joe Harris and 35 from Alex Forbes, the side was bowled out for 170. North West Youth 2nd XI then reached 172 for the loss of 5 wickets with Kinneir Lowe 3/24 off 6 overs and Alex Forbes 2/28 off 7 overs being the wicket takers.
