Winter activities at Audiology South

Simon Melville —

Welcome to winter, and gosh what a cold start here in the lower south to remind us what season we’re now in!

Despite the weather conditions, our team have been super, fitting hearing aids and helping many clients hear better for the winter months!

We recently had our yearly away-day retreat in Dunedin. The theme this year was “Giving Back” and the team spent quality time together doing all sorts of fun activities, from planting trees for the Halo Project (https://www.haloproject.org.nz) to decorating mugs, and workshopping how Audiology South can give even more back to the community over the coming 12 months. A big congratulations to Kate Comer, winner of this year’s Audiology South Prize for Clinical Excellence, which is our acknowledgement of excellence in audiology education.

Our Dunedin team has been busy getting trained in Lyric and we are proud to now be offering this unique hearing device across Otago, Southland and Central Otago. If you would like to try them out, call 0800 547 836 for a free 30-day, no obligation trial. You can read more about Lyric in this newsletter.

We’ve also welcomed Darren Stasso, our latest audiologist recruit for Dunedin, and had staff training in the ACC changes that now allow our clinicians to lodge claims for work related hearing loss direct from our clinics — bypassing the need to visit a GP.

Happy Matariki everyone! As always, please feel free to write in with any suggestions for articles you would like to see in our upcoming editions of Sounding Board.
