Air travel and hearing aid chargers

Audiology South —

Are you packing your bags for a holiday flight, or to visit friends and family? Here’s something VERY IMPORTANT you need know.

Power banks (chargers) cannot go in your checked-in luggage, and that includes hearing aid charging cases. They must be put in your carry-on bag.

Some types of batteries can’t be taken onto planes because there are risks they could explode, catch fire, leak acid or caustic chemicals, or harm people and property. Power banks are a significant risk, particularly when used to recharge other devices.

Checked-in luggage is x-rayed to ensure it has nothing dangerous; if dangerous items are detected, your bag will be opened and the items removed. So, to make sure your charging case gets to your destination, pack it in your carry-on baggage.
