All about hearing aid batteries: How do they work?

Modern hearing aids typically use zinc-air batteries that have tiny holes on the top surface. When the sticker is removed, air causes a chemical reaction that produces zinc oxide to create energy. Only remove the sticker when you are ready to use the battery because once it is removed the battery starts to discharge and cannot be stopped.
