ANZH Collaborations
It was nice to have some time to connect with teachers of similar year levels from the other schools in Aupaki. One of the aims of this session was to get to know each other a little bit, to learn about how Inquiry looks in each kura, and for Aupaki leadership to know what teachers need to help them plan collaboratively this term. The notes from this section are here.
During Term 2 all Aupaki primary schools will be focusing on the Aotearoa New Zealand Histories curriculum, and in particular focusing on our pre-European history. Curriculum and Cultural Leads met in Term 4, 2022 and agreed that everyone (Years 1 - 8) needed to have an understanding of this part of our history before we venture into other areas such as Te Tiriti, colonisation, immigration etc.
Our Term 2 ANZH focus will be aligned with:
Big Idea: Māori history is the foundational and continuous history of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Context: Tūrangawaewae me te kaitiakitanga, Place and environment.
There was a desire for our tamariki to gain a deeper understanding of pre-European history as a foundation for further learning afterward.
