In May, Apirana Taylor continued his connection with Linwood College, teaching a Creative Writing class to a range of senior students.

Apirana Taylor is one of New Zealand’s most prominent writers, and so it was a fantastic experience for our learners to be taught by the man himself.

Throughout the hour Masterclass, Taylor introduced the learners to numerous strategies to use when approaching creative writing. It was these ‘tricks of the trade’ that led to our students writing some fantastic pieces of writing in the small amount of time he was here.

Students loved Taylor’s humour and his ‘no nonsense' attitude, which they felt compelled them to produce some of the best work they had ever done, according to one student.

After being such a hit this year, there is no doubt that we will be welcoming him back in 2022.
