Mt Pleasant School
Nurture - Enrich - Inspire
Post-Earthquake Ōtautahi Christchurch is an exciting place to be. For Mt Pleasant School this means welcoming new whānau to our community, the rebuild of our hall, library and four new learning spaces and the introduction of the IB Primary Years Programme.
Life as we know it is changing. How we learn, what we learn and why we learn is changing. Our mission is to equip our students with the confidence, curiosity and resilience to thrive in Aotearoa NZ and beyond.
The Primary Years Programme framework consists of the essential elements — knowledge , concepts , skills and action - that we feel prepare our students to lead happy and successful lives, both now and in the future. These in turn contribute to the development of the Learner Profile attributes that we aspire for all our MPS students to have developed upon graduation.
The PYP has six transdisciplinary themes that provide the framework for learning. These themes are globally significant and support the acquisition of knowledge, concepts and skills of the traditional subjects. They are revisited throughout the student’s time in the PYP.
As a kura (school), we believe that relationships are the foundation of learning. We work hard to ensure our students and whānau feel welcomed and supported within our school.
