Cantamath 2024
Cantamath is Canterbury's annual maths competition.
There are two parts: the display competition, consisting of 10 categories which anyone from Years 5-10 can enter. Exhibits are judged and top projects are awarded Excellence or Highly Commended. Congratulations to:
Dom, Jesse, Jaxson and James - Excellence in Games and Puzzles
Erin - Excellence in Static Models
Marco - Excellence in Posters
Mrs B's maths class - Highly Commended in Class Projects
Lucy - Highly Commended in Posters
The other part of Cantamath is the team's competition. This is an academic competition where top mathematicians from each school work together to try and solve 20 word problems in 30 minutes. Our Year 7 team of Danielle, Dom. Jesse and Tina did really well to answer 13 questions, and finish on a score of 65, putting them about 16th out of 80 teams. Our Year 8 team of Jayden, Jackson, Davey and Ryan completed all 20 questions in just under 22 minutes, earning them a coveted 'Golden Ticket' and 3rd place (out of 87 teams).
I am incredibly proud of both teams and absolutely delighted with our 3rd place in the Year 8 competition.
