On Friday 2 August, 17 Avonhead students from Year 1-8 competed at the regional Chess Power tournament held here at Avonhead School. The students all played 7 games using a clock, and everyone had at least one win! Congratulations to our Year 7/8 team of Bentley, Shivam, Uros, Jack and Eric who placed 1st and qualified (again) for the Chess Power nationals. Congratulations to our Year 1-6 team of Ritika, George, Finn, Callum and Sam who finished 2nd overall and also qualified for the nationals. Finally, congratulations to Ritika who was won the Junior division and was the best Junior girl; Bentley and Shivam who were placed 3rd= overall in the Intermediate division; and Bentley again who won a badge for causing the biggest upset, beating another player who was 200 points ahead of him.
