Avonhead students perform well at the Canterbury Zone Cross Country Championships 23rd June 2021.

Vicki Lewis —

Congratulations to Tomo Hudson who was placed 4th at the Canterbury Schools' Cross Country at Halswell Quary. As well as this we had Kupa Rule who finished in 10th place and Joshua Parmenter in 11th place in their Y8 boys race. This is an impressive result at a regional level and we are very proud of them all.

All our other students all gave their best too, in what were wet and muddy conditions.

Theo Walker, an ex pupil of Avonhead School who is now in Year 12, was there supporting his sister,  and it was a special moment when he congratulated Tomo on his place in the competition. Theo was placed 8th in the Canterbury Zones when he was at Avonhead School, and has gone on to pursue a promising running  record throughout high school. He says he is still passionate running and about and setting higher goals for his future in this area too. Proof that if you work hard at something and set goals, anything is possible.

As well as our Canterbury Cross Country Representatives we had a large number of student representatives from Avonhead School at the NW Zone Cross Country Camps also. We want to say a huge tumeke to these students for giving 100%. We were very proud of the five students below who placed in the top 3 in their respective events too.
