DigiAwards Success!
Congratulations to our Year 8 students - Thomas, Tom and Zeyad for their fabulous achievements at the annual Grow Waitaha DigiAwards last Wednesday!!
"The DigiAwards encourages and celebrates digital creativity in all Year 0–8 ākonga throughout Waitaha. The event enables ākonga to design, develop, and showcase their digital outcomes."
This year's theme was based on a whakatauki : Ahakoa he iti, he pounamu–Although it is small, it is precious
In effort to 'support local' - Tom and Zeyad created a website to promote our local businesses post COVID lockdown. Their website provides information about the products and services each business provides: https://avonheadbusiness.wixsite.com/avonhead. We are thrilled to announce the boys were placed Runner-Up in the Year 7/8 division.
Thomas also created a digital outcome that will be a great support to our community during COVID (and beyond). It is a highly engaging game aimed at teaching children effective hand washing practice. What is also great about this resource is that it is presented in Te Reo!! We are very excited to announce that Thomas gained FIRST place in the Year 7/8 Te Reo division! Ka Rawe Thomas!!!
We are very proud of the growth that our students are showing in their digital fluency and innovative thinking - across the school. We look forward to further projects and exciting initiatives in 2021! Thanks for inspiring our future creators Thomas, Tom and Zeyad!!
