What does our name and logo represent?

Rakipaoa is our gifted name from mana whenua. ‘Piki ngātahi te tihi’, is the whakataukī for our kura. It talks about everyone working together to reach the pinnacle. Growing excellence together. Avonhead is situated close to the Rakipaoa river, the upper tributaries of the Avon River (Ōtakaro). Given this important environmental location, mana whenua have gifted the school Rakipaoa as well as names for our classes/spaces that easily correlates with the taiao. The analogy is that of a journey and growth.
