Tahu Potiki Taonga and Treasures
Within our Inquiry Unit in Team 5/6 we have been thinking about our culture & our place. Exploring our ancestors, our culture and cultural treasures.
Tahu Potiki (Rooms 17,18 & 19) did a bit of show and tell. These items were just a few of the family treasures shared.
This is a special painting made by my granddad of a place in Holland, where he grew up. Lucy G
This is a Cook Island necklace, made from shells found in the Cook Islands. It is our family treasure and very precious to us. Grace M

These koi fish flags are important to my culture. We don’t have any but my grandparents do. They wish you to be strong and healthy like the koi fish. Tomo

It’s called a Bodhrán, it’s a type of Scottish drum. They use it to make music on special occasions. Sinead
It’s a picture of Golden Boy and Jade Maiden. It's a special ornament given to my family by my grandparents from China, to give our household protection and keep us safe. Abbie C.
The traditional chinese tree is from Grandma's House. It is an
evergreen tree and means good health all year and long life. Jayden C.
