The Tech Life Project - Akshatha's exciting trip to Wellington!
Last Friday our very own Akshatha, along with 4 other Year 6 girls from across Christchurch travelled to Wellington to meet with some inspiring young women in the tech industry.
This amazing experience, The Tech Life Project is an initiative organised and funded by Christchurch software development company, Global Office.
The project was an all expenses paid trip to Wellington for 5 Year 6 girls from across Christchurch to visit the offices of Trade Me and Xero and to meet with successful women in the industry.
During the visit the girls were able to learn more about the different roles and opportunities within these organisations. The learned a lot about product design and were intrigued by the roles and responsibilities of a data scientist!
The girls also had a personalised tour of these exciting work environments that were quite similar to our Avonhead flexible learning spaces! Although - we were impressed by the on-site gym, flash coffee machines and FREE soda vending machines on each floor. One of the highlights had to be the twirly playground slide that connected all 3 floors at Trade Me!! Sure beats taking the stairs or lifts!
All girls came away from the experience feeling incredibly inspired by the opportunities available to them in the tech industry! Akshatha has put together a video of her amazing experience (see above). A huge thanks to Global Office for making this experience possible.
