AGHS —

Term 1 is nearly over and our international girls have been busy at school and in the community. We are very proud of our academic colours recipients who received awards for achieving Merit and Excellence endorsements in NCEA. Jenny Kim received an Honours awards for high academic achievement in Level 1.

Some girls have been volunteering for Red Cross and Child Cancer, participating in local beach and river clean ups and making Easter cupcakes for the residents at a local rest home.  We went to Windsorcare to deliver the cupcakes and met Colleen who is a resident there. We found out she was a student at AGHS in 1937! She was delighted with her cupcake and Easter egg treats.

On 11 March we held a memorial service together with Shirley Boys’ High to remember those affected by the tsunami and earthquake in Japan 10 years ago.

Sarasa performed at a local market day with a Japanese Taiko group and Ann finally flew home to Vietnam on a repatriation flight after 4 months of visa delays, lockdowns and flight cancellations which meant she missed three other flights.
