Student and Whanau Information

AGHS —

Key information for our school community.

Head Lice:

We have had some cases of head lice in our students. Please can you check your daughters' heads and treat them if they have head lice. There are a range of treatments available at the chemist, or the lice and eggs can be combed out with a nit comb. The combs are also available at the chemist and cost about $2.00. Treatments should be repeated after 7 days. Hair should be securely tied back between treatments, preferably braided if possible, to prevent head to head transmission. Please ask your daughter to avoid sharing hair brushes and hair ties. Many thanks for your support with this.

Bringing Food into School:

Learning time is important and class learning cannot be interrupted by students leaving class to collect hot food being delivered by parents.

We strongly recommend that girls either bring their snack and lunch food from home each day, or purchase food from the school cafeteria.

If neither of those two options are possible on a specific day, then we ask that parents deliver cold food that can be left at Reception and collected by their daughters at break times. Thanks for your understanding and support of this stance.

Signing in and out of school:

A reminder that students need to sign in at the student office if they are late, and to sign out if they are leaving.  The school should be notified with either a phone call or note if the student is leaving.

Sickness at school:

When girls are unwell at school they need to go to the sickbay, where parents will be contacted to pick them up if they are to go home.  It is important for student safety that school and families know where students are at all times.

Free Online Study Guides:

The following website offers free online NCEA walk through study guides:  https://studytime.co.nz/guides/

Cycle Safety:

Please encourage your daughter to wear a high-vis vest, and use her bicycle lights when she is biking to and from school. This is particularly important in winter months when the light isn't so great early morning and late afternoon.
