Ko Māui Hangarau Event

AGHS —

Senior Māori students from Avonside Girls’ High School and local schools around Otautahi were invited to Ko Māui Hangarau. This was a full day event that travelled around Aotearoa with presentations from Māori entrepreneurs who share their stories and inspire our rangatahi. It was filled with Tikanga Māori and the wairua was beautiful. We also got to check out and play with all the products, apps and designs the entrepreneurs and their businesses offered. This is where we got to have one on one conversations with them and they answered all the questions we had built up.

At the end of the day we were all amazed by how the speakers started with lives similar to ours and worked hard throughout the years to have the success they have today. It gave us a good sense of where we want to go in the future and how we could get there. Overall Ko Māui Hangarau had such a positive impact on our confidence in not only our futures but how we treasure our Māori culture.
