Pasifika Supreme Achievement Awards

Avonside Girls' High School —

It was a privilege to be able to co-host the first SPACPAC Collective event of 2020, the Pasifika Supreme Awards ceremony, with Shirley Boys’ High School on the evening of Tuesday 3 March.

It was a pleasure to be able to share the fabulous facilities we have here at Ōrua Paeroa with our wider Christchurch community. The Pasifika Supreme Awards ceremony occurs annually and is an opportunity for our Pasifika community and education sector to come together to celebrate our NCEA academic high achievers from the 2019 academic year and recognise student leadership.

Our Head of Pasifika Council, Luseta Filiai, was one of the evening’s MCs and Jekita Valavala showcased her amazing singing talent as one of the student performers. The guest speaker was an AGHS old girl, Ashalyna Noa, and she had an inspiring message for all of the students about being persistent and backing yourself.

We celebrated a number of our students at the event and would like to acknowledge all of our Pasifika academic award recipients and Pasifika student leaders. Thanks too to the parents and community representatives that came and celebrated with us.
