Arts Week

AGHS —

This week we celebrated Arts Week.  It has been busy and well supported by students and staff.

The activities started with a bang on Monday with the popular ‘Dancing in the Dark’. The small theatre was packed with students dancing happily in the pitch dark, with a rainbow of glowsticks shining in the dark and some catchy music playing.

On Tuesday over thirty students turned up to a painting workshop in the visual arts area where we watched a Bob Ross painting tutorial. Everyone was provided with a mini canvas and were able to explore their artistic abilities.

Wednesday the Arts Council took part in the annual Gala Day by creating a collaborative Art Work. Students answered questions and could throw balloons of paint on a canvas creating a colourful piece of art. The finished painting will be on display in the Performing Arts Area.

Thursday saw the return of the much loved epic Theatre Sports competition between the Avonside student theatre sports team and a group of staff. The audience loved watching the staff let their hair down and improve some hilarious scenarios.

Friday saw the return of the Bands. Four bands consisting of Avonside and Shirley students performed in the shared courtyard to a great crowd of cheering and happy students. The bands were able to show off their musical skills and ended the term on a high.
