From backyards to pots and windowsills, the Waikura/Linwood-Central-Heathcote Edible and Sustainable Garden Awards are back for 2021 in partnership with the Canterbury Horticultural Society! We want to celebrate all gardens, big and small, new and established, and hope to encourage people new to growing edibles to get involved! From veggie pots to garden plots, entry is free and open to everyone in the Waikura/Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board area. Entries are open until 28 January 2021 with an award ceremony following in early-mid 2021. All attendees receive a certificate and a prize.

Aranui Bike Fixup

Aranui Bike Fixup has been going well since starting up in August. In just over 3 months we have given away 90 bikes and repaired 60 bikes for people in the community, Three of our regular young people have received their first tool from our 'earn a bike tool' scheme. On Thursday 10th December we are having our final fixup for the year and celebrating the good progress with some extra food on offer, so it would be a great chance for people to come and see what we do and get a bike for Christmas if you need one. 153 Breezes Road 3-6pm. We will aim to open again on Thursday 28th January. Contact Steve Muir 0210619296 or aranuibikefixup@gmail.com for more details. Any donations of bikes or parts or bike fixing skills are welcome.
