Senior Drama Evening

AGHS —

On Wednesday 28th October the Drama Department held a Senior Drama Evening for students and whānau. With the uncertainty created this year due to Covid, the drama department cancelled all full class productions. While it was a sad step to take, we felt that there was risk involved in starting big productions that involved multiple assessments when at any time we could have rehearsals interrupted with lockdowns and audiences severely restricted. This change meant we needed to create an alternative opportunity to celebrate student achievement and share performance work with whānau. The Senior Drama Evening was our solution. Students were given the opportunity to showcase their best performance work to whānau and to watch students from other classes perform. The atmosphere was positive and supportive and a great audience of several hundred attended the event. A wide range of student work was presented, from level 1 devising to level 3 theatre form performances. The range and depth of material made the evening entertaining, and the audience feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Well done to all of the students who participated in this new initiative.
