Grandma’s Garments by Sasha Bruorton

Congratulation to Sasha Bruorton who won the 2023 HERstory competition with her story Grandma’s Garments.  This was presented by the Past Pupils Association who funded this competition.  Here is a snip it from Sasha's story:

"My grandma Lynne went to the old Avonside site; which was not next to Shirley Boys as it is now, so there were no boys around- she was glad for that. They also lacked in male teachers, the majority being woman who had lost their husbands in the recent World War 2 and who were now addressed as Miss".
