Canterbury Secondary Schools Athletics Championships:

Our Avonside Athletics team participated in the prelims of the Canterbury Secondary Schools Athletics Championships, with some students making it through to finals day on Saturday 20 March.

South Island Secondary Schools Athletics:

Congratulations to our nine students who participated in the South Island Secondary Schools Athletics on 10 April.  They all did exceptionally well, with Holly Gray having outstanding results-1st in the 80m hurdles, 2nd in the 400m and then Rya Fonotia gaining 3rd place in the under 16 Shotput. 

New Zealand selection camp for basketball:

New Zealand U18 Softball selection camp:

Well done to Maddi Dysart (Year 11) and Sydelle Samuelu (Year 10) who went to Auckland to take part in the NZ U18 Softball selection camp. 

Maadi Cup Team:

The rowing squad went to Cambridge for the National Secondary Schools Rowing Championships during tournament week.  The girls did some outstanding rowing with all the girls reaching semi-finals in their events.  They also achieved B and C finals and personal bests in all events.

The team was:  Tasman O'Sullivan, Hallie Wheeler, Stella Cook, Ash Fleming, Andie Schweiz, Libby Greaves and Georgia Houghton.

Swimming:

The Canterbury Swimming Championships were held on the 31 March at Jellie Park where our swimmers achieved some outstanding results.  We had 3 relay teams (the first for many years) who performed outstandingly with results being: second place in the U14 Freestyle, second in the U15 Freestyle, and third in the Open 200m Medley.  Other results in the swimming were:
