Canterbury Model United Nations

AGHS —

Over seventy Canterbury students got together recently to attend this year’s Canterbury Model United Nations, the theme of which was UN+CERTAIN. Having prepared to represent the country which they were assigned, delegates spent two days debating, negotiating and voting on international legislation designed to make the world a more certain place for its inhabitants. This year, 12 Avonside students attended the event, representing countries ranging from Syria to Ireland. Congratulations to these students who stepped out of their comfort zones and tried to find solutions to some of the world’s most pressing problems. It wasn’t all hard work though. The quiz and joke amendments offered some light relief. Next on the calendar for our budding diplomats is the Model European Union in June.
