On Thursday, 21st March, AGHS hosted 150 female student leaders from 25 high schools from all over Canterbury for Change Maker, a leadership event presented by Thrive for Life.
The day-long event focused on upskilling and empowering young female leaders with wise words,connection with each other, and the lived experiences of leadership journeys from a variety of speakers discussing the essential qualities of leadership, Imposter Syndrome, Social Emotional Intelligence, Pasifika women in leadership, creating connections in communities, multifaceted leadership, and the importance of wellbeing and self-care as leaders.

Students brought their buzz of the day, which was peppered with impromptu singalongs in the mosh pit and prizes: 13 student leaders bagged $250 worth of DISC personal development, which focuses on profiling and coaching. 

Speakers on the day included:Melissa Benge, Director of Irelands Real Estate; Jo Mathieson, People and Performance Manager at Total Life.co; Tanya Muagututi'a, O.N.Z.M, Co-Founder of Pacific Underground; Nadine Hickman, Director of Peptalk Media; Prajesh Channabhai, from Phambili Coaching; and AGHS Dux of 2022, Stella Cook.
