In Term 2 Week 2, our Kapahaka and Māori Performing Arts students were treated to a performance called Te Rongomaiwhiti. This show was performed completely in Te Reo Māori and combined taiaha, poi, waiata a ringa and haka. The show was hugely validating to our students in their study of Te Reo Māori and Performing Arts, showing them what careers in this area could look like. Our Kapahaka tutor was part of the performance team also, giving our students a great display of her skills and knowledge. After the show, our girls were really excited and described the show as inspirational and invigorating and that it gave them ‘chills’.
