Enrolment Term 2

Tanya Clegg —

Something for all staff to be aware of - enrolments continue.

I just wanted to give you a heads up that we continue to receive new enrolments at a variety of levels.

Starting on the first day of Term 2 are 2 returning students in Y13 and Y11. Their teachers have been notified.

We also have 3 enrolment interviews booked for Thursday, and more enquiries coming in.

Our process for mid year enrolments is that Mel Fenton handles getting them enrolled and seeking feedback from their previous schools. We are only taking in-zone enrolments.

Once enrolled, Tanya Clegg meets with the student and whanau to find out more about the student and what we can do to support them here at school. Sometimes, we then book the student in for a meeting and learning assessment with the Enrichment Centre and/or a meeting with a member of the Hauora team.  Often  Tanya also requests extra funding from the MOE to support the student with transition. Teachers are emailed to say that we have a new student joining their class and any additional information they need to know.

When that is completed, the student starts school. They are met by a Kaitiaki on the first day, their timetable is checked, they are often given a second tour and a buddy to help them find their way. Ginni tries to catch them at some point to set up their device. The Kaitiaki and ako teacher are then responsible for checking in with the student about how they are finding school and making any adjustments or referrals necessary.

Enrolments will continue throughout the year and we usually expect to pick up 5 -10 each term (less in T4).

Also starting this term is our Y8 enrolment process for the 2024 Year 9 cohort. We will have more information out to you about your role in this over Term 2 and 3 later in the term.
